Community Update: May 31, 2012
Categories: In the Riding
I hope that with the warm weather you are all able to enjoy the fresh air and some of Ottawa’s many parks and green spaces!
Pinecrest Queensway Community Health Centre
Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre Annual recently held their annual “Celebrating Diversity Event” which I was happy to attend. It was great to see the support they receive from the community and some of the many ways they serve the community. It was also fun to play with the kids that were there!
Boys and Girls Club Breakfast
The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa recently hosted a fund-raising breakfast that I was pleased to attend and show my support of their dedication to the kids of Ottawa.
Funding for New War Memorial in Ottawa
Thanks to the Community War Memorial Fund, I was pleased to announce that Britannia Park will soon be home to a Flanders Field Mosaic Memorial which will be built by Regina Public School.
Meeting with Baha’i Leadership
It was great to be able to meet with some leaders from the Ba-ha’I community. Working with religious groups to fight for religious freedom and the end of persecution around the world is very important to me.
Welcoming Israeli President Peres
It was a great honour to welcome Israeli President and Nobel Peace Prize winner Peres to Canada for his first official state visit to Canada as president.
LOOKING AHEAD
I will be conducting more Tele-townhall meetings to continue to listen to your ideas. If you would like to participate in the next one, please send your phone number to Baird.J@parl.gc.ca
