Local school celebrates National Wildlife Week with Environment Minister, CWF
(Ottawa) – Local Member of Parliament and Environment Minister John Baird, was joined by the Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF) earlier today to celebrate National Wildlife Week. Mr. Baird and the CWF gave a premiere screening of the latest Hinterland Who’s Who video for students and teachers at Pinecrest Public School.
“National Wildlife Week is a great opportunity for everyone to learn more about conserving and protecting our wildlife and wildlife habitat,” said Minister Baird. “I’m proud of the aggressive action this Government has taken to protect our wildlife and their habitat. By working together with our partners, such as the Canadian Wildlife Federation, we can ensure that today’s youth can enjoy our wildlife for generations to come.”
Minister Baird joined the students in watching the latest creative Hinterland Who’s Who “webisode” video on pollinators, the theme for this year’s National Wildlife Week. Pollinators are the animals – primarily insects and birds – that carry pollen from one plant to another, helping them produce fruit and seeds and are increasingly threatened in Canada.
